Manchester United’s Angel Di Maria has edged out FC Barcelona superstar to win Argentina’s best foreign-based player of the year by the country’s sports journalists.
Di Maria was awarded the Olimpia de Plata trophy at a ceremony in his homeland on Tuesday night.
Di Maria’s honour came after a year in which the Noodle won the Champions League with Real Madrid, reached the World Cup final with the Albiceleste, before eventually signing on at Man United.
As for the domestic prizes, Velez Sarsfield striker Lucas Pratto picked up the gong for the best player in the Argentine league.
