President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday night worshiped at the monthly Holy Ghost Night at the Redemption Camp, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Jonathan, who earlier in the day campaigned in his home state,
Bayelsa, ahead of next Saturday’s presidential election, addressed the
congregation after 11pm, asking them to pray for the peace and progress
of Nigeria. Dressed in a light green flowing gown, the president said he
was not there for political campaign but only wanted to thank members
of the church for their prayers for Nigeria.
He later knelt as he was prayed for by Enoch Adeboye, the general
overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, who asked for divine
wisdom for the president in piloting the affairs of the country.
Two weeks ago, the president also worshiped at the Living Faith
Ministries aka Winners Chapel, in Ota, Ogun state, where Bishop David
Oyedepo prayed for him in what later created a storm on the social media
in which the pastor was wrongly accused of threatening to open the
gates of hell against opponents of the president.
The running mate of Muhammadu Buhari in the February 14
presidential election, Yemi Osinbajo, is a pastor in the Redeeemed
Christian Church of God. Before the 2011 elections, Jonathan also
worshiped at the church.
